Choose a standalone keyboard with a touchpad when a separate mouse would consume desk space or add another item to pack. The ProtoArc XK01 TP folds and switches among three Bluetooth channels. The Logitech K400 Plus is a fixed-size alternative for a compatible host with a USB receiver connection. K400 Plus is not a Bluetooth keyboard.

We selected these exact models for their integrated pointing controls and documented connection methods. This comparison is about typing and pointing from one standalone accessory; it does not replace our travel-keyboard guide or the device-specific iPad keyboard-case guide.

Check the open footprint as well as the packed one. Folding makes the ProtoArc shorter in a bag, but the open keyboard is wider than K400 Plus. Draw that width on your intended work surface and leave space for the tablet or screen stand. A small packed rectangle does not establish that the unfolded keyboard fits a tray table.

Check pointing support separately from typing

Host decisionXK01 TP documentationK400 Plus documentation
WindowsGesture table specifically covers Windows 10/11Maker lists Windows support; receiver needs a USB connection
AndroidManual separates Samsung tablet/phone examples on Android 12+ and warns gestures vary by deviceMaker lists Android support, subject to the host accepting the USB receiver
Mac or iPadManual has macOS 12+ and iPadOS 13.4.1+ gesture sections; some gestures depend on the appThese are not supported-platform recommendations from the reviewed K400 Plus page

ProtoArc’s general keyboard compatibility list is broader than its detailed gesture tables. Do not read the broad list as a promise that every gesture works on every listed OS. The manual explicitly excludes Force Click and haptic feedback on Mac. Verify the shortcuts and gestures your actual app needs before committing to this setup.

For a USB-C-only host and K400 Plus, a physical adapter is only the first step: confirm the host supports that receiver and input method. We have not verified any particular hub-receiver-tablet combination. Avoid selecting the K400 merely because a retailer calls it wireless; that word does not mean Bluetooth.

Charging, layout and daily handling

The XK01 TP’s USB-C connection is documented for charging; we do not establish wired USB keyboard operation. Its page and manual use differing standby/battery figures, so this guide does not turn those numbers into typing endurance. Plan to recharge and check the battery before leaving.

K400 Plus instead adds replaceable batteries and a small receiver to your packing list. Give the receiver a consistent storage place. That setup can be reasonable for one compatible computer, but it is a different workflow from Bluetooth channel switching among a phone, tablet and laptop.

Confirm the physical key layout shown for the exact order. US and UK layouts are separate variants, and regional punctuation differences matter when writing or coding. Test your essential shortcuts, scrolling and right-click actions on the intended device during the return period. This is a verification step for the buyer, not a test we have performed.

Budget and drawbacks

Neither model receives a typing-comfort, cursor-precision or durability score here. Choose only after connection, pointing support, layout and the full open footprint match the work you need to do.
