Choose a camera backpack by the camera-and-lens arrangement you need to retrieve, then check laptop clearance and packed size. Peak Design’s Everyday Backpack 20L v2 suits a mixed daily-carry layout with configurable dividers. Lowepro’s ProTactic BP 350 AW III offers a dedicated camera compartment with four access points. Neither bag’s litre figure tells you whether your assembled camera fits the opening.

We selected these exact models because their manufacturers document the divider/access design and device clearances. This is a dedicated padded camera-kit decision, separate from our laptop-backpack guide and loose tech-organizer pouches.

Sources: Peak Design Everyday Backpack specifications and Lowepro ProTactic BP 350 AW III specifications. Use the 20L v2 and AW III specifications; do not substitute the 30L Peak or Lowepro AW II tables.

Compare laptop axes carefully: Lowepro lists the thin axis first. An advertised screen diagonal is less useful than the exterior length, width and thickness of the device you will actually pack. A hard case or separate sleeve adds another fit requirement. The listed weights are not a complete-kit comparison; include your straps, covers, bottles and other accessories in your own total.

Packing questionWhat to measure or arrangeWhy it matters
Will the camera stay assembled?Body with the intended lens, hood position and protruding gripA bare-body measurement understates the space you need
Which lens must be accessible first?Place that kit next to the chosen opening in a proposed divider layoutA side door is useful only if your arrangement puts the right equipment behind it
Are you carrying clothing too?Reserve space before assigning every compartment to camera equipmentMixed carry can obstruct a camera access path
Does a tripod travel outside?Check attachment arrangement and the complete packed outlineExternal gear changes size and handling

Use a sketch or cardboard mock-up before buying, then verify with the actual bag during the return period. We have not tested a camera/lens configuration in either model. Divider design describes organization; it is not a DCL impact-protection result.

If your kit is a small action camera and accessories, first decide whether it needs a dedicated backpack at all. Our travel action-camera comparison addresses the camera decision; the appropriate bag depends on the full kit you choose, not the camera brand alone.

Travel size and weather limitations

Peak’s 20L dimension diagram shows an approximately 46cm-high exterior, 33cm upper width and 21cm upper depth, tapering below. The diagram explicitly says average sizes vary with the load. Lowepro lists 19 × 31.5 × 47cm exterior dimensions and a 14.5 × 27.5 × 44cm camera compartment, preserving its displayed order.

These numbers describe the bag, not airline acceptance. Measure the packed outline with any tripod, bottle or straps, then compare the current carrier allowance. Do not treat this table as a universal personal-item recommendation.

Lowepro includes an All Weather Cover. That is a documented accessory, not proof that the loaded bag is waterproof. We have no comparative rain, abrasion, impact or carrying-comfort test. Decide how you will isolate electronics for your conditions without relying on an untested protection claim.

Budget and drawbacks

CandidateBudget evidenceMain compromise
Everyday Backpack 20L v2 blackCurrent checkout total unknown; verify capacity and generationTapered interior and divider configuration constrain the kit; include divider mass
ProTactic BP 350 AW III blackCurrent checkout total unknown; verify AW III and LP37505-PWWHigher listed empty mass and a smaller laptop envelope in this comparison
Existing backpack with an appropriate insertCombined cost unknown; check the complete setupFit, access and restraint of the insert must be established separately

Choose only after the camera arrangement, access path, laptop envelope and loaded size all work together. An attractive empty layout or a broad capacity claim cannot answer those four checks.
